Dr. Richard Z. Zhang
I am an Assistant Professor of Mechanical & Energy Engineering at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, USA.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I also hold MS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). I was previously a Thermal Systems Engineer at the Aerospace Corporation, in sunny El Segundo, CA, USA.
My research is focused on nanoscale energy transport and optics. I am particularly interested in nanomaterials (nanotubes, nanoparticles, and 2D materials), near-field tunneling (thermal rectification, probe microscopy, and infrared sensors), and aerospace applications (radiative coatings, photovoltaic devices, and spacecraft systems).
